Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood
By: Melissa B. Kruger
As mother’s, especially new ones, we often don’t have time to sit and read or really do much of anything but focus on our child. I have come to know the opposite and the importance of remembering to put God first than family and if that means taking time to worship in prayer, study, or dedication to The Word than that is vital for my role as a mother to my daughter and as a wife to my husband. This devotional study not only had me engaged in wanting to create time to read it but the devotional part really had me searching myself to answer the questions as well as scripture. That part of the devotional and book really have you engaged and not just reading through “another” book.
The format of the devotional was well thought of because it closes in key verses to remember, it ends with a prayer to help guide you through words if you can’t find any, and it is so well written that it is easy to follow.
As I read through the devotional so many key points were made, so many great thoughts were spoken that I would love the honor to one day meet the author; to sit and talk to her as my friend because that is how she made me feel in reading through her book.
“While I may not always feel joy, God asks me to give thanks in all things, because He knows that the feeling of joy begins in the action of thanksgiving,” the author writes so beautifully. This spoke so loud to me when reading these words. The realness and truth behind these words is what so many new, overwhelmed mothers feel that no one really talks about. We get overwhelmed and stressed and busy with life that sometimes it may seem hard to be joyful but this reminder is so important not only for my sake but my families too.
This book is one that I will continue to reference, a book that can change every time you read it because there is work to do as a mother. Some of the most valuable pieces of this devotion is the self reflection you can have as a mother. The key Bible verses and how it corresponds with your life as a mother and the devotions that can change through the different seasons of your journey through motherhood is so important to growing with you and your family.
I thank the author for her anointing through her words because it has changed this mother’s life. I didn’t grow up having a mother figure in my life and was often scared of what that would mean for me as a mother. This book gave me more hope, confidence and love than I would have ever expected.
I was blessed and you will be too! ❤
